Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi is Secretary-General of the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He graduated from St. Catherine College, Oxford University, with an M. Litt. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics in 1988. He returned to Muscat in 1989, where he worked as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2000, he became undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, in 2007, gained the position of Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He represented his country on a number of occasions, including discussion of the labour law issue in 1993, the negotiations that led to Oman’s membership in the World Trade Organization in 2000 and the signing of the 2006 US-Omani Free Trade Agreement.
