Pre-MED Meetings

The II edition of ROME MED – MEDITERRANEAN DIALOGUES has been preceded by several “Pre-MED” sectorial meetings for selected audiences. These meetings aimed to address some of the most pressing and topical challenges to a new regional order.

In particular, institutional actors, experts, civil servants, and representatives of the business community and the media were offered the opportunity to come together and discuss viable options to enhance intraregional cooperation, economic development, security challenges, energy and climate change, transport and infrastructures, institution-building, and civil society networks.

All these “Pre-MED” meetings taking place in the context of MED turned Rome into a global hub for high-level dialogues on the Mediterranean.

Euro-Med Think Tanks Forum, gathering 43 research institutes to discuss the role of TTs in promoting a positive agenda for the Mediterranean.

Ministerial Meeting on energy aimed at enhancing the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on energy, taking stock of the results achieved so far, in particular in the three platforms’ work programmes on electricity markets, gas and renewables, and setting the framework for further cooperation in the years to come.

Euro-Med Business Forum on economic relations, partnership opportunities and growth potential in the Mediterranean Region. In addition, General Assembly of the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises, representing the private sector on both shores of the Mediterranean.

22nd General Assembly of MEDREG (Association of 25 energy regulators from 21 countries around the Mediterranean), which celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Meeting of the Heads of the Policy Planners of MENA countries participating to MED to exchange view and ideas on a possible regional security architecture.

The 7 Aspen Institutes in Europe gathering around common values and practical ideas about the Continent’s future and its new generations.

Meeting of editors and senior correspondents from the most important news companies, dealing with “narrative of identities, identity of accounts”.

High Level Seminar featuring institutional representatives from the Maghreb region, co-organized with the PASP Division of NATO.

Steering Committee of the “Robert F. Kennedy Flagship Initiative for Mediterranean challenges” focused on refugees and migration crisis.
