Breugel’s annual meetings include a mix of large conferences and private sessions with a select group of high-level participants. It could be considered an economics’ fair from both a European and global perspective. Not only do the meetings address the main issues currently influencing global economic governance, but also tackle specific topics that are important to European member states’ growth, investment and trade relations.
This year’s meeting will focus on specifically European topics, in both a regional and international perspective. Geopolitics and climate change will be addressed with regard to the emerging energy union and the challenges related to geopolitical risks. Moreover, the future of the euro area will be discussed, by considering banking and financial unions, the state of euro and non euro-area governance, and the aftermath of the debt crisis.
