The conference on Europe’s changing neighbourhood is an annual event organized by Chatham House, together with the International Crisis Group and the Al Sharq Forum. It focuses on the contribution that Europe can give to addressing today’s crises and in the prevention of tomorrow’s. Throughout the sessions, speakers debate the nature of the main current issues, critically discuss the effectiveness of the strategies that have been implemented in seeking solutions to the pressing challenges in the neighbourhood, and evaluate the perception of Europe’s collective and national-level policies.
The issues to be discussed in the 2016 edition, which will start on 16 November 2016, range from the refugee crisis to the emergence of global terrorism and the EU’s relationships with Russia, North Africa and Sahel region states. The event is aimed at outlining European strategy for handling the changing nature of the conflicts and humanitarian crisis. Furthermore, it provides a platform to rethink current European policy in its neighbourhood and to hint at new strategies for European member states and the European Union.
